Xiaomi’s smartphones sales have exceeded 100 million

We may not be surprised by Xiaomi’s ridiculous growth anymore but we’re still impressed. The burgeoning Chinese startup has managed to sell more than 100 million smartphones. The company made the announcement in celebration of its fifth anniversary. Sales like that are things we expect from long-time industry leaders like Apple and Samsung, not some Chinese startup that hasn’t even existed for longer than a few years.

Xiaomi celebrated its 5th anniversary with a bang by announcing that the company’s smartphone sales have exceeded 100 million units. The announcement was made by the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, on the Xiaomi official Chinese blog who also said that the next five years will be very crucial to Xiaomi and that the competition in the next five years will be fierce due to the growth of local and foreign competitors as well as the entry of new players in the industry. Xiaomi’s shipped almost 70 million units last year which means the company sold over 30 million units within the first three months of the current year to exceed its 100 million sales goal. The company has also said that their sales numbers would actually be higher if not for capacity or availability issues.
