 So while the masses are out jonesin’ for some free wifi for their latest Galaxy iPhone 64, little cities all over the country are hard at work making sure it’s available to them. Tech hubs aren’t just confined to California anymore, and in fact, Silicon valley has fallen way out of fashion. It’s all about the landlocked states these days; the mom-and-pop of tech startups, if you will, that have us pulling on our daisy dukes faster than you can say “home made sweet tea.”

In 2013, The Idea Village business incubator way down in New Orleans, Louisiana received a whopping $600,000 grant from the U.S. Commerce Department. Louisiana is also home to The New Orleans Startup Fund which helps supply vital seed funding to early stage companies to give them a boosting head start.

Let’s take a look at sweet home Huntsville, Alabama. Dubbed “The Rocket City,” Huntsville placed number 14 on Entrepreneur’s list of the 25 best United States cities for tech startups. Home of the eTruckBiz and Bragg Peak Systems, Huntsville landed itself on this list from the popular and effective BizTech business incubator.
