Trailer: The Witcher 3 looks like it may be the RPG of the decade

Skyrim was an excellent game, but it lacked the complexity and depth that hardcore RPG fans love. Dark Souls, on the other hand, had those two in abundance but wasn’t as open-world as many would have liked. It was hoped that Dragon Age: Inquisition would find the nice middle ground that RPG lovers have been looking for, but even that behemoth of a game failed to do so. Now our hopes rest with The Witcher 3, and I don’t think we’re going to be disappointed.

Let’s be real, CD Projekt Red has gone a bit overboard with its video releases for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It feels like every couple days there’s a new trailer to watch. There’s a good reason for it, though. The Witcher 3 is shaping up to be one of 2015’s best games, and its latest trailer is proof of that. The official launch cinematic for The Witcher 3 has found its way onto YouTube. This isn’t what you’ve seen from the game before, this is a full CGI showcase for the game’s atmosphere and style. Frankly, it’s incredible, and you should watch it above. Early discussion about The Witcher 3 has revealed that it’s just as big of a game as was promised, with a huge, expansive world and hundreds of quests. Some are disappointed by how it looks compared to its 2013 demo, but there’s no taking away from the fact that it’s one of the most technically brilliant games to-date. Speaking of which, if you’re planning to pick up the PC version, you may want to read our latest write-up.
