Samsung’s US mobile product chief leaves because job was no longer “fun”

You should enjoy your job. Some studies have shown that liking your job can lead to longer life. The feeling was applied by one of Samsung’s product chiefs who just left over the lack of fun.

They should have put in more beanbags.

Kevin Packingham, Samsung’s chief product officer of its U.S. mobile business, said he was not forced out of Samsung and that he left voluntarily because his job had changed and become less fun as Samsung shifted away from an exclusive product strategy to one where it released a single smartphone across the globe.

When Packingham joined the company in September 2011, Samsung built different models of the same phone for each of the four top U.S. wireless carriers. His job was to sit down with the carriers and work with them to build a product with a unique set of product specifications.
