A new version of ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode, available to free users, allows users to pause conversations with the AI assistant without being disturbed. Users who pay for ChatGPT, such as those who have subscriptions to OpenAI’s Plus, Teams, Edu, Business, and Pro levels, will also have fewer disruptions when utilizing Advanced Voice Mode. Additionally, the voice assistant will have a more engaging personality.
Market Pressure Fuels Improvements
According to the post on X, Competition in the AI voice assistant market is putting a lot of pressure on Advanced Voice Mode to improve. Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe founded Sesame, a firm sponsored by Andreessen Horowitz, which gained notoriety recently for its Miles and Maya, two AI voice assistants that seem natural. Bigger companies are also entering the AI voice assistant market with greater vigour. For example, Amazon is getting set to launch its Alexa version that is powered by LLM.
OpenAI’s Latest Enhancements Reduce Interruptions
In order to make the AI assistant more approachable and reduce the frequency of user interruptions, OpenAI launched changes on Monday for Advanced Voice Mode, their AI voice feature that allows real-time interactions in ChatGPT.
