Google adds remote locking for lost or stolen Android devices

29 sec read

Anyone who has lost a smartphone has gone through the anxiety of wondering what could be gained by the thief or someone who finds it. Would they answer phone calls from friends? Would they hack into your Facebook or read your emails? Would they call your mom? Android is giving users a little peace of mind with a new remote locking feature.

Worried about data from your lost Android phone or tablet getting into the wrong hands? You can now lock down your device remotely.

Released in August, Google’s Android Device Manager is a handy service that allows you to see the location of a lost or stolen Android device. You can also remotely tell the device to ring as well as erase all of its data. Now, you can add one more feature to that list.
