If you have an older iPhone unit, like the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S, it seems that Apple wants you to upgrade. A couple of days ago we reported that Apple was planning some kind of big iPhone upgrade event, well it looks like that event has kicked off. Apple has recently started sending out emails to their customers, informing them that they should come in and upgrade to the latest iPhone.

Presumably ahead of the announcement of the next iPhone at this year’s WWDC, Apple has kicked off its iPhone upgrade event in an effort to get owners of older models to upgrade to the iPhone 5s or 5c. “It’s a beautiful time for an upgrade,” iPhone 4s owners are being told in e-mails from Apple, and signs with the same message were spotted in Apple retail stores as early as last week. Under the program, iPhone 4s owners can turn in their aging smartphones for a $199 credit for purchasing an iPhone 5s or 5c. 9to5Mac states that Apple employees have also received instructions for models other than the 4s, so if you own an iPhone 4, for instance, you’ll get $99 to put toward buying a 5s or 5c.
