Obama considers sanctions on China over hack

China denies it adamantly. US investigators claim to be certain that China did it. Regardless of who is correct, the Obama administration is considering throwing sanctions at China in retribution for a series of hack attacks that yielded as many as 15 million personnel files being stolen.

Investigators had already said that Chinese hackers appeared to have obtained personal data from more than four million current and former federal employees in one of the boldest invasions into a government network.
