Automotive apps continue advance towards ‘smart cars’

There are already a ton of vehicles out there that are “connected” and act as mobile (literally) hotspots. Then, there are cars that update their software through internet connections. Manufacturers are adding apps to their cars and they should be smartphones on wheels any time now. Then, there are the third-parties who are not getting as much attention but who can be the eventual driving force for automotive technology.

Technology is everywhere, it surrounds us. From smartphones and laptops, to 3D televisions and cars, everywhere you turn, technology has become a part of our day to day lives on some level. Auto makers tout advanced technology in their vehicles with each evolving model year leaving some car drivers feeling left out. For instance, take the average teenager who typically drives a vehicle that is more than 10 years old and you have a car that is virtually technology-less.

What do you think?
