Xperia G is reportedly going to be Sony’s first mid-range smartphone this year

Sony’s not really been his bag before, but ViziLeaks appears to have gotten hands on with one of the company’s phones before its official debut at Mobile World Congress. Two photos are claimed to show portions of the Xperia G, and were tweeted out along with some nebulous specs: LTE, 8GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera and a gig of RAM, plus a 4.8-inch screen.

Sony Xperia G will supposedly be the company’s first mid-range smartphone for this year. Since Sony has already announced a high-profile device at CES last month – the Xperia Z1 Compact, and followed with the T2 Ultra phablet shortly after we expect the focus at the MWC to shift to mid-range and budget smartphones. There is no additional information about the Sony Xperia G aside from what we can see on the picture. Obviously, it has the same design and footprint as the Xperia Z1. This means the display will be 5″ or smaller, but that’s all we get at this point.
