Windows 8 and 8.1 exceed 20% adoption on Steam

According to data from Valve’s Steam Hardware and Software Survey for the month ending January 2014, Microsoft’s latest operating system usage has increased to a combined total of 21.31% for both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. During the previous month, the usage was at a total of 20.06%. This factors in both 32bit and 64bit of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

Valve has updated its Hardware & Software Survey for January 2014, and the news is once again very good for Microsoft. Apple and Canonical both lost share on Steam’s platform, but Windows 8.1 continues to surge forward. In December, Windows 8.1 overtook Windows XP on Steam. Last month, Windows 8.1 passed the 10 percent market share mark, and combined with Windows 8, the duo passed the 20 percent mark.
