Windows 10 could start a new wave of demand for Windows Phones

Considering that Windows 10 hasn’t even been fully released yet it’s far too early for celebration but things are looking pretty damn good for Microsoft. Some smartphone manufacturers are predicting that the unique features that Windows 10 for mobile will provide, namely its universal apps that work across all devices, could start a new wave of demand for device running on Microsoft’s upcoming operating system.

Smartphone manufacturer Infosonics is the company behind the Verykool line of Windows Phone handsets. At MWC in Barcelona, company CEO Joseph Ram has been showing off the Phantom, an unlocked handset that supports AT&T and T-Mobile’s 4G LTE networks, and is priced to sell at $299. In making the rounds between carriers, Ram says that larger carriers are beginning to seek out more Windows Phone models to carry. The executive sees the cross-device universal compatibility of Windows 10 as the feature that will start a new wave of demand for devices powered by Microsoft’s open source OS. “Once Windows 10 is available, it could be a game changer because of the way the apps and services are going to work across all the universal devices,” Ram said. Lower priced Windows Phone handsets are exciting the carriers the most, according to the CEO, which explains Microsoft’s focus on new low to mid-range Lumia models.
