The PlayStation 4 has already sold more than 30 million units

The Xbox One may be catching up to the PlayStation 4, but Sony’s console is still the undisputed victor of this generation’s console wars. According to the company, the PlayStation 4 is the “the fastest and strongest grown in PlayStation history,” and has managed to sell more than 30 million units after just two years on the market. With how popular the console has been, it looks like the PlayStation 2 might lose its title as the best-selling console of all time in a few years.

Move over, PlayStation 2; you might have some competition in the coming years. Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that the PS4 has sold through to consumers more than 30.2 million units worldwide. Described as “the fastest and strongest grown in PlayStation history,” the games and multimedia platform surpassed the 30 million sold as of November 22nd, a date coincidentally coinciding with the 2nd year anniversary of the platform’s main console competitor, Microsoft’s Xbox One. “We are sincerely grateful that gamers across the globe have continued to choose PS4 as the best place to play since launch two years ago,” Sony Computer Entertainment president and global CEO Andrew House said in the release. “We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation.”
