The BlackBerry PRIV will cost somewhere around $630

The PRIV is far more than the BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone, it may very well be one of the last handsets the company ever makes, depending on how well the smartphone does. BlackBerry CEO John Chen has already suggested that his company might stop making handsets next year if it doesn’t start making money, and there’s no way it will if the PRIV doesn’t sell well. That’s why BlackBerry isn’t making any compromises with the device’s specs, and even though we’re still not sure what all of the specs are, a recent rumor out of China claims the device will be priced above $600. That puts it well into premium range, which means it should have the specs to match. 

BlackBerry is about to release its first Android-powered handset, the BlackBerry PRIV. It’s built so that no compromises are made, so it includes some of the most current specs in a very good design. We still don’t know everything about the specs, but we have seen some official photos that show the overall design of the phone. It has a subtlety curved display on the sides and there’s a physical keyboard hidden under it, so it slides downwards when users need it to make typing a little more pleasant. The company became known for the keyboards included in their handsets designed with productivity in mind, so this keyboard is probably comfortable as well. There have been some real-life pictures that show how thin and well-built the device is. On the software side, some pictures have shown a very light customization of the Android operating system, so it might end up looking like that with some custom apps to enhance its functionality according to the company. Despite the handset doesn’t seem to include a fingerprint scanner, the company has promised that the device will be very secure thanks to all of the technologies developed exclusively by them, hence the name that makes reference to privacy. Other specs include a 5.4-inch QHD display, powering it up is a Snapdragon 808 processor and 2 GB of RAM. There’s an 18-megapixel main camera with OIS.
