Considering how Star Trek has been one of the most beloved television shows in the world for several decades, everyone was willing to believe that the series would be making its way back to television, especially considering how popular the film reboots have been. Unfortunately, the recent rumors that CBS is currently working to bring the series back to television has been confirmed to be absolutely false. Still, I can’t imagine Star Trek not coming back to television eventually, it just looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer.

In a nutshell, Latino Review’s report revolves around a pitch from 10 years ago for a new Trek TV show called Star Trek: Federation. We wrote about this pitch in great detail here, but in a nutshell it takes place in the far future, after the Federation has become “fat and happy,” and a young Alexander Kirk may be the Federation’s only hope for surviving a massive new threat. Robert Meyer Burnett, director of Free Enterprise, was involved along with writer Geoffrey Thorne, and Bryan Singer was also on board.
