Sony’s Xperia Z2 could be coming to Verizon in the near future

Sony has a problem getting phones into the U.S. and has continuously released its flagship device several months after it was already available in Europe and Asia. That trend is set to continue into 2014 with the release of the Xperia Z2, but the one change is the carrier set to offer the Z2. Though Xperia phones have typically launched on the GSM/HSPA+ networks of AT&T and T-Mobile, the next Sony flagship appears to be Verizon-bound.

Just a few days back we were talking to you about Sony’s plans for the Xperia Z2 when it came to North America, and specifically when shoppers in the US might get a shot at the hardware. The story didn’t sound too optimistic, with the phone not arriving until summer at the earliest, and without any word of carrier interest, meaning anyone with their heart set on the Z2 would probably be buying it from Sony directly. Disappointing, maybe, but not really surprising, given Sony’s focus on other markets abroad. But then today this pic up top turns up, posted by Sony itself, and appearing to reveal a Z2 with Verizon branding.
