Sony releases trailer for its first PlayStation Plus-exclusive original series

Sony has deliberately focused on the gaming capabilities of the PlayStation 4 to date, but the console isn’t just about video games. Sony Pictures Television is currently producing a PlayStation Plus-exclusive original series, called Powers, and we’ve just got our first look at the show at New York Comic Con. The cop drama is based on a comic of the same name, and it follows detectives who keep an eye on people with superpowers.

The debut trailer for Powers premiered during a panel for the show at New York Comic Con yesterday, offering a glimpse of the varied cast of characters that live in the series’ version of Chicago. Powers is based on the Icon Comics graphic novel series of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. It will be the first show in Sony’s slate of original programming for PlayStation Network users. Powers centers on Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley, District 9) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward, The Following), two Chicago homicide detectives who deal specifically with cases involving “powers” — people with super powers.
