Sony may announce the Xperia Z4 next week

Most of this year’s big flagship smartphones have already been released, or at least announced, but Sony has been conspicuously quiet about the highly anticipated Xperia Z4. While there has been no shortage of leaks, we still don’t have much official information about the company’s upcoming smartphone. That may change next week, however, as Sony has scheduled a big event in Japan on April 20 where it will announce a new Xperia device, which many expect to be the Xperia Z4.

While some of the biggest smartphone makers have unveiled their premium flagships for H1 2015 either at CES or the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, one of the companies that’s been missing from the picture was, and still is Sony. The highly anticipated Sony Xperia Z4 should be unveiled relatively soon (on account of us already being in mid-April if nothing else) but the Japanese tech giant has yet to set a fixed announcement date in stone. However with a bit of luck, Sony enthusiasts might find out all there is to know about the Xperia Z4 in just a few days from now. More details right after the break. Earlier this week, the Japanese media apparently passed along a very interesting report concerning Sony’s near-future plans. According to these sources, Sony will unveil a new Xperia smartphone in Japan, no later than April 20. While there’s no concrete evidence to suggest that the mysterious device will be the Xperia Z4, it’s difficult not to take this possibility in account given the amount of Xperia Z4-related leaks that emerged lately, and also because the Z4 is a long-time coming after all.
