School district monitoring student social media sees the truth

The truth is ugly. It really is. They’re teenagers. They’re driven by maturing sexuality, drug-based mischief, and an unyielding disdain for anything that resembles authority. They speak their minds on social media in ways that would make many teachers blush (especially when they’re talking about how attractive their teachers were when they were younger). Was it worth $40,000 to get these types of insights?

The Glendale Unified School District in California has hired a firm to monitor students’ social media accounts. These are the kinds of things teenagers tweet sometimes.
