RealNetwork tries to change their fortunes with RealPlayer Cloud

Most know them as the company that annoys you with constant upgrade requests and a video player that doesn’t work in very many places. That is changing as the company starts to embrace the trends of people’s viewing habits.

“When I came back, I said: show me the iOS version of RealPlayer.”

RealNetworks founder Rob Glaser still vividly remembers talking to his team after he returned to the company as CEO last summer, a job that he was forced to give up in 2010 amid declining revenue and a tanking stock price. The answer he got was that no such version was in development because there was no business model for it. So Glaser assembled a 100 person team to change that.
