OnePlus to release an early build of its Android-based ROM

Although it’s no secret that OnePlus has been developing its own Android 5.0 Lollipop based ROM for the OnePlus One and it future devices, the Chinese company has been very tight-lipped with details. However, the controversy with Cyanogen licensing in India has forced OnePlus to release an early build to its customers.

OnePlus One has a nice little surprise in store for its customers today, provided you’re willing to deal with alpha software and can handle a bit of tweaking. The firm announced Wednesday that customers can now download and install an alpha version of Android 5.0 Lollipop to their OnePlus One phones. The company said it’s trying to stick to the AOSP Lollipop build as much as possible, so don’t expect any enhancements or even CyanogenMod for that matter. That’s good news for Android purists out there, however, as much we love what Cyanogen has to offer.
