Netatmo’s new camera system can recognize members of your family

Netatmo wants to take home monitoring to the next level with its connected home camera system that will be compatible with both Android and Android Wear. The system will supposedly be able to recognize the faces of everyone in your household and will be able to inform you which of them is currently at home and even alert you when an unrecognized person is in your house.

Netatmo may be a name you’re not so familiar with, but at CES 2015 they’re on hand showing off their connected home camera system that will support Android, as well as Android Wear. It also boasts that it’ll recognize the faces of anyone you tell it to any time that they’re in your home. Once you’ve told the companion app — which is currently being shown off on iOS though the Android version is on its way — who your family and any other trusted faces are, the Netatmo will be able to recognize when those people are in your home. Since it can tell when people come and go, it’ll give you a real time update of who’s there at any time. If someone comes in that it doesn’t recognize, perhaps to steal your TV, then the camera will ping the application with a photograph of that person.
