LG announces that its Knock Code feature is coming to low-mid range devices

About a week ago, LG announced Knock Code which was an evolution of the company’s Knock On feature. Basically what it does is that it allows users to “knock” a pattern on their phone in order to unlock it, even if the screen was off. LG claims that Knock Code is safer than Touch ID, especially when there are over 80,000 different combinations out there. That being said, the good news is that LG has also announced that the Knock Code feature will not be limited to LG’s higher-end handsets, but will also be incorporated into the company’s low-mid ranged devices.

LG aims to recapture its 3rd place ranking in worldwide sales of mobile devices by bringing its Knock Code feature to its lower end devices.  Knock Code is an improvement over the company’s KnockOn feature which was revealed last fall on the LG G2. KnockOn allowed a user to double tap on the display of the device to wake it or put it to sleep. This latest update allows anyone to knock on the phone in a previously set pattern to unlock it. As of the third quarter of 2013 Huawei is the world’s largest smartphone maker dethroning LG. LG however believes that it can bounce back and in order for them to do this is to bring more value to their low to mid range devices. The company is banking on its Knock Code feature to do this.
