Kickstarter reports that is has been hacked

Crowdfunding website Kickstarter said in an email to its members on Saturday afternoon that hackers had broken into its platform and accessed the personal information of its users. The company said that credit card information was not accessed, and that there is “no evidence of unauthorized activity of any kind on all but two Kickstarter user accounts.”

Kickstarter suffered a data breach that may have led to the disclosure of personal information. On Saturday, I received this notification in my inbox. If you have a Kickstarter account or campaign, you need to read and heed the following message: “On Wednesday night, law enforcement officials contacted Kickstarter and alerted us that hackers had sought and gained unauthorized access to some of our customers’ data. Upon learning this, we immediately closed the security breach and began strengthening security measures throughout the Kickstarter system.
