House of Cards is coming back for another season

In a move that has surprised no one, Netflix has decided to renew House of Cards for another season. The last season of Netflix’s most popular original series was met with lukewarm responses, with many claiming the season lacked pretty much everything that made the first two so addictive. Even so, House of Cards is still House of Cards, and people will be preparing to binge-watch the series the moment the next season comes out.

Francis Underwood will return for another term. Netflix has renewed political drama House of Cards for a fourth season, the streaming service announced Thursday. The series is set to go back into production this summer for a 2016 premiere. Starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as Washington power couple Francis and Claire Underwood, the most recent season saw Frank in the midst of his first term as president of the United States. The season ended during his bid for re-election. Although Netflix famously keeps its streaming stats under wraps, the series has been a power player during awards season from the beginning. House of Cards took home three Emmys for its first season in 2013, including a best directing win for executive producer David Fincher. Wright won a Golden Globe for her role in 2014, and Spacey nabbed Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards for his performance earlier this year.
