Google TV Has A Site – and Apps Aplenty!

Google TV finally has a site to help those still confused about what the hell it is to get their learn on.

If I wasn’t excited about Google TV before (I wasn’t), I’m incrementally more now.

First of all, the branding and visual identity is slick as a leak at a dish soap factory. Typically, Google sucks completely beyond belief at all things designy, but I’ve gotta say, I’m impressed – they’ve really gone all-out to make Google TV do the opposite of be crap. Y’know, in the brand department, anyway.

To be honest, the experience overall looks pretty ballin’, as well. Network channels get a sexy launch portal, you can fling content from your phone, YouTube is getting a Google TV overhaul – things are actually kind of looking up. Way up.

Possibly the most important (read: least surprising) piece of news is the inclusion of apps, which you’ll be able to use while simultaneously watching… whatever it is you watch.

That’s just what I need. ‘Yo dawg, we heard you like Twitter, so we put a Twitter in your TV so you can waste time while you waste time.’ If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: Google is actively working to decrease the productivity of humanity at large. And if Google TV is anything to go by, they might yet achieve their goal.

If you haven’t already got the minisite open in a new tab, I’ll save you the trouble of hauling your cursor back up a couple paragraphs and give you the link again. Think this is ready to revolutionize a medium?
