Google Glass can be fun to use, but there still isn’t really a compelling reason to strap on the wearable device on a regular basis let alone pay $1500 for a pair of your own. Now British grocery chain Tesco may have come up with the first killer app for Glass as part of an effort to make it even easier to order new milk when you run out. The Tesco Google Glass app lets you scan the barcode for everyday items offered by the company, like the jug of milk featured in a new promotional video. The display then shows an info card with nutritional information for your milk and lets you quickly add it to a virtual basket and finalize your order. Then Tesco will deliver the milk by truck.
Google Glass is still kind of a niche product. It is available to everyone (since it reached open beta status) in U.S. and U.K. for a steep price of $1500. Despite that, number of Glassware (Google Glass apps) is increasing, slowly but surely. Glass is becoming more and more useful thanks to developers who are pushing the platform forward by releasing all sorts of apps and of course Google itself who’s constantly updating Glassware. We recently wrote about an app called “Shop X” which makes grocery shopping extremely easy. This time around we have something new for you, “RedLaser” is a Glassware which will make your shopping experience much easier using Glass. You might have heard of this app already considering it’s available on all three major mobile platforms, Android, iPhone and Windows Phone and it is owned by eBay (they bought it after the app reached 2 million downloads worldwide). RedLaser is now available on Google Glass as well and it could be a really useful piece of software. This app has a lot of options, it’s a barcode scanner, shopping assistant, QR code reader and it also lets you search for all sorts of deals, stores and even compare prices and see reviews. After you install this app you’ll get two more commands you can use when you say that magic “OK Google” phrase. The commands in question are “Find Product” and “Scan Product”.
