Fallout Shelter won’t be hitting Android until August

It’s hard to read all of these good reviews for Fallout Shelter as someone who’s both an Android users and a Fallout fan, as the mobile game is currently exclusive to iOS. While the people at Bethesda have assured us that an Android version of the game is in the works, we now know that it won’t be released until at least August. 

Fallout Shelter publisher Bethesda Softworks is planning to release the game on Android in August, said Bethesda’s Pete Hines on Twitter yesterday. Asked about the Android version, Hines said it is “coming along [nicely]” and “should be out next month.” Hines is the vice president of marketing and public relations at Bethesda. Bethesda announced Fallout Shelter during its E3 press briefing June 14, and released the game on iOS later that night. Within a week, the company said Fallout Shelter was the App Store’s most downloaded game in 48 countries and the most downloaded app of any kind in 25 countries. At the time, people were playing it 70 million times a day. Fallout Shelter developer Bethesda Game Studios added the first Fallout 4 character, Preston Garvey, to the game earlier this week. Check out our Bethesda StoryStream for all the news from the company’s E3, and the video below for a recap of the press briefing.
