Today, Dell announced that it will be bolstering the company’s relationship with Google and launching a Chrome-based video conferencing solution targeted at businesses. A couple of items makes this announcement rather interesting. First, it is Google and Dell working together to make this platform work. Second, the device will likely be the lowest cost system yet in market and could actually have a larger impact on how meetings are done than earlier offerings.
Dell today announced the extension of its collaboration with Google to further meet the needs of the evolving workforce. As part of its growing relationship with Google, Dell is developing Dell Chromebox for meetings, an integrated solution designed to help geographically dispersed teams conduct meetings from a large variety of devices, from nearly anywhere, and collaborate ‘face-to-face’ in a virtual environment. Dell Chromebox for meetings will include a high-definition camera, a combined microphone and speaker unit and a remote control to enable users to quickly connect to a display in a conference room, and recreate the ‘in room’ meeting experience regardless of all participants’ location.
