Chrome OS scores a redesigned camera app that’ll soon record video and upload to YouTube

You have a Chromebook, yes? Well, if you’re webcam-inclined, Google has some potentially big news for you. The Chromium team has completely overhauled the Camera app’s UI, and according to Mountain View’s “Happiness Evangelist” François Beaufort, new functionality is in the hopper.

Webcam support has not been one of Chrome OS’s leading features, but that could change with a Camera app update due to make its way to the public in the coming week. Chrome’s official “happiness evangelist” François Beaufort, an open-source and developer advocate on the Chromium project, wrote on Google+ on Tuesday that an update to the Chrome OS Camera app will bring video recording, direct posting to YouTube and Google+, and automatic photo sync support across Chrome devices.

What do you think?
