Obama Name-Drops Jobs As ‘Incentive’

In a speech yesterday, Mr. President took a moment to give Big Steve some props, citing him as an example of someone whom Americans should ‘expect to be rich’. An example of modern wealth.

What is…a fact is that people in the top 1 percent, people in the top one-tenth of 1 percent, or one-hundredth of 1 percent have a larger share of income and wealth than any time since the 1920s. Those are just facts. That’s not a feeling on the part of Democrats. Those are facts. And something that’s always been the greatest strength of America is a thriving, booming middle class, where everybody has got a shot at the American dream. And that should be our goal. That should be what we’re focused on. How are we creating opportunity for everybody? So that we celebrate wealth. We celebrate somebody like a Steve Jobs, who has created two or three different revolutionary products. We expect that person to be rich, and that’s a good thing. We want that incentive. That’s part of the free market.

I guess that’s kinda true… I mean… APPLE’S created two or three revolutionary products of late… I dunno. Should Jobs get these bumped knucks from the prez? Do you think he’s really an incentive to the rest of us to achieve? Being able to knock over a historic site just because I want a robotic house would be a pretty cool perk. I bet he gets all his turtlenecks for free, too. That would be convenient.

  1. Slow news day before christmas? What an inane post from a site that I’ve really started to like lately.

    You “dunno” huh?
Of course Jobs should be bump knuckles. Of course he is a incentive to achieve. Of course he should be called out for revolutionizing (not evolutionizing) technology. Just like Bill Gates and many others have. This is just obvious.

Keep your political and technological hate to yourself and post actual news or interesting/thought provoking op-eds.

  2. Kind of interesting a Democrat giving props to the CEO of a company that outsources virtually all of its manufacturing overseas.
