Months after Huawei first unveiled its new smartwatch at this year’s Mobile World Congress, the Chinese company is finally making the device available to pre-order in the United States. Huawei missed the original June launch date for the Huawei Watch, but it’s easy to forgive them when you see how gorgeous the device looks. It comes in black, rose gold, and silver color options with a few different bands to choose from, but despite how great it looks, it might be difficult to convince consumers to pay $349.99 for a smartwatch.
The Android Wear-powered Huawei Watch is now available for pre-order on Amazon, Best Buy, GetHuawei.com, and the Google Store, and arrives Sept. 17. Not only that, but Android Wear now works with iPhones, so if you want to order one of the stylish timepieces but don’t want to switch phones, you’re covered. There are six different models to choose from with prices ranging from $349 to $799. Stainless steel and black models are up for pre-order today, with the more expensive, top-of-the-line rose gold models available later this year. The base model features a stainless steel face with a black leather strap. Unveiled at Mobile World Congress in March, the Huawei Watch has a 1.4-inch circular 400-by-400-pixel AMOLED always-on display, which works out to 286 pixels per inch. I got a look at the watch in person and while I agree with Alex Colon that it “might just be the best-looking Android Wear watch” to date, I found it quite large and heavy to wear. That may be the fashion these days, but if you’re looking for something more svelte you may want to try the Huawei Watch on to see if you’re willing to follow the latest trend. Otherwise, the high quality of the material is undeniable—this is a premium product.
