Google expected to unveil the Nexus 9 next week

Google still hasn’t announced any plans to hold a press conference this month but, even still, we’re expecting some sort of final Android L release in October. As is usually the case, Google will likely release some new hardware that runs its latest Android software to show off the features. The most recent rumors point to two devices, the Nexus 6 made by Motorola and codenamed Shamu, and the Nexus 9, allegedly developed by HTC. Now we have some fresh news on the latter.

We may not have to wait long for HTC’s upcoming Nexus 9, as it is being reported that the tablet is slated to be unveiled on October 15, and be priced at $399. Also seemingly confirmed is the presence of Nvidia’s Tegra K1 chip within the tablet, which should provide considerable prowess when it comes to gaming thanks to a 192-core GPU. While Nvidia’s Tegra line of chipsets have been used over the years in various smartphones and tablets, battery life has always been an area of concern when compared to Qualcomm’s offerings in this segment. In terms of design, earlier leaks have indicated that the tablet will feature a matte-style finish as well as a more squarish look.
