Amazon Kindle Fire imageBased on one research firm’s estimates, online retailer Amazon may have sold 95,000 units of its all-new Kindle Fire tablet in the first day the device was available for pre-order.

“eDataSource’s panel of 800,000 [email] inboxes allows us to gain insight into eCommerce sales” said Carter Nicholas, CEO of eDataSource, a leading provider of online competitive intelligence. “Within hours we can get a read on hot product launches based on sales from leading eCommerce websites.”

By analyzing purchase receipts received by email, eDataSource is able to estimate the daily orders placed at major ecommerce sites. Although the entire Kindle line underwent pricing changes, eDataSource estimates that the Fire outsold the other three new Kindle units combined, despite its higher price point.

Although the firm’s findings suggest that Amazon may have another successful product on their hands, the Kindle Fire is still outpaced by Apple’s beloved, higher-end tablet. In April 2010, eDataSource estimated the number of iPad purchases to be 350,000 on the first day that product came to market.

The Kindle Fire can be had for $199. Pre-orders can be placed now with shipments beginning November 15.
